繪畫過程中，為了自己製作的畫框，從最基本了解不同基底材特性開始，到挑選胚布、煮製畫用油等，為了好品質不斷嘗試著。

對於顏料色彩他也有相當的堅持，將所需的色彩，調出多種色表，大面積的繪畫後，在不同光線下觀看呈現的色彩，達到完美後才將顏色填到畫布上。

Distance To Perfection

現實生活無法達到的完美，簡義棋透過繪畫實現了他對完美的願望，每當完成一件作品讓他心靈更充足，抽象空間與寫實物件穿插創造出多樣趣味，作品中雖然些許偏向設計的氛圍，但人為操作下的作品，比起機器印刷多了一些溫度在裡面。

Combination Of Things He Loves

簡義棋創作靈感、動機，全都來自於喜歡蒐集古物與種植花草，這些物件對他來說能讓他感受到一種獨有的溫度，他把這些古物與自己的植物系列結合。

人造，人賦予了物件生命力，植物，本身所存在的生命力，兩者的生命力呈現後，反而讓畫面的感性，大於他前面那些理性的手法。

畫面背景的處理方式則先是透過平面空間的研究與色塊的處理，再憑藉著創作者的情感能量表達來選用色料，再加入物件發酵產生出畫面關聯性。

植物代表生命、古物件代表時間兩著彼此相呼應之下，主體物件在和漸層色塊抽象背景配置，讓畫面上發酵出一種平衡及安定感。
